You Help Change 10,000+ Lives One Family at a Time.

One Story

Situation: So often the working poor are spending every waking hour struggling to earn the income needed for their family, but it’s just not enough. Such was the case of a mother and father with two children. They both worked and were also attending school in the little spare time they had, so they could carve out a better life for their family.

The couple received childcare benefits because their jobs didn't pay enough to cover day care costs. The agency issuing the benefit made a series of mistakes, and the couple wound up with a large unpaid day care bill, and termination of the benefit.

Action: The couple came to Legal Aid, and one of our attorneys filed an appeal. After a full hearing, the Administrative Law Judge said the client’s day care benefits had been wrongly terminated, and restored them.

Result: This family can now resume their efforts to create a better future for their family. As the client wrote us, “I am beyond fortunate to have met you. Without your help and guidance, none of this would have been possible.”
