Legal Assistance of Olmsted County (LAOC) provides legal services to low-income residents of Olmsted county. Representation provided by LAOC can range from giving legal advice to full legal representation of individuals involved in various lawsuits, including seeking protective orders for battered spouses and children, full dissolution representation, housing and tenants' rights, and more. LAOC also coordinates the Volunteer Attorney Program (VAP) to provide pro bono representation in civil legal matters not directly handled by LAOC attorneys. Approximately 70 attorneys volunteer through our program to handle civil cases. LAOC coordinates the Landlord/Tenant Hotline, which provides answers to callers questions regarding housing matters. LAOC also provides community outreach through a variety of programs.
