LDA Minnesota is a 501(c)(3) non-profit helping children, youth, and adults with learning disabilities and other learning difficulties.

For more than 40 years, LDA Minnesota has served people of all ages with learning difficulties by maximizing their potential so they may lead more productive and fulfilled lives.

LDA currently partners with early childhood learning centers and elementary schools in the Minneapolis, St. Paul, and Robbinsdale districts. More than 85% of the students we serve come from low-income families and are of diverse ethnic and racial backgrounds. Please see our projects at the bottom-right side of the page! LDA Minnesota programs serve not only individuals who have been identified with learning disabilities or other learning difficulties, but also students who may be at risk of academic failure.

Our programs provide services throughout the lifespan and include the following:

• Learning Connections Focuses on preventing severe academic difficulties or school failure by providing early intensive reading and math instruction for primary-age children. Specially-trained teachers work with students in small groups to help close the achievement gap for the Twin Cities’ neediest students.

• Parents as Partners Engages and enables parents to become more involved and better equipped to support their children’s learning. Workshops and Family Nights build parent confidence to use their own strategies, and then empowers them with new tools, strategies, skills, and practical information that are sensitive to their culture and life situations. Includes early literacy support and development of low-income pre-school children by providing training and resources to parents and care providers.

• Assessment and Consultation Services Include learning disabilities assessments; diagnostic assessments for other learning difficulties, including ADHD; early reading assessments for ages 5-9; assessments for GED accommodations; and individual consultations.

• ADHD (Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity)Services Support, coaching, and counseling for adults and parents of children with ADHD, individuals, couples, partners, spouses, or families on the issues and needs of individuals and families experiencing attention deficits. Fall Symposium includes breakout sessions and a Q&A expert panel. Services are confidential and offered by qualified professionals.

• Tutoring for All Ages Provides individualized and specialized instruction to improve basic math, reading, organization, and test preparation skills for all ages, including adults. Supplemental Educational Services (SES) offer free in-home tutoring for eligible students. New tutoring students receive a discount.

• Capacity Building Includes trainings and consultants to assist schools and school districts with professional development and implementation of new educational practices, strategies, and curricula. Thank you in advance for supporting our educational programs!
