Help support an academically rigorous, socially conscious school of diverse K-8 learners.

We're putting on a show and need your help! Your gift will help our students learn and grow in a school that honors their individuality, inspires them to community action and challenges them to achieve their best.

Defying Achievement Gaps

One of the reasons SFCS was founded -- nearly 40 years ago -- was to offer an education that addressed the needs and aspirations of communities of color and the poor. Although we can’t eliminate the effects of racism and poverty, we are proud to say that students at Southside defy the typical predictors of low achievement. We know that with individualized instruction, adequate support, experiential learning opportunities and an engaging curriculum, all students can reach our high expectations. We also know that we can only do this with community support.

“I’m going to make a difference.”

You help kids make history: kids like Jayden. Jayden has been eligible to perform in Southside's annual social justice play since fifth grade-but he felt too shy to belt out a song on stage. Now that he’s an 8th grader, he has grown so much in confidence and commitment to activism he can't wait for opening night. We know that opportunities for artistic expression motivate students and deepen learning. That's why we dig so deep to produce an original play each spring.

This year's production runs Wed-Fri, May 22-24. Curtain time is 7:00PM. The new Starlight Diner food truck will open at 6:00PM for your pre-play dinner (all drink proceeds benefit SFCS). There will be a Southside Family bake sale for dessert and tomato plants ready for your garden needs in our plant sale. Donate through GiveMN and your admission to the performance of your choice is on us!
