We are trying to help the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization of the Greater Twin Cities area. While the recession has been tough on everyone, charities have been no exception. I have learned that there are over 600 kids in the Brooklyn Park, MN area alone that are awaiting a Big Brother or Big Sister match. This program has a proven track record with improving the lives of local kids ages 6 - 18. . National research has shown that positive relationships between youth and their Big Brothers and Big Sisters mentors have a direct and measurable impact on children's lives. Statistics show that Little Brothers and Sisters are: More confident in their schoolwork performance Able to get along better with their families 46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs 27% less likely to begin using alcohol 52% less likely to skip school.
