I'm raising funds to go on Sibley Bike Depot's Harvest Bike Tour. It's a fundraiser for an incredible organization that's doing great work.

I’m writing to ask you to make a contribution to support me in riding in Sibley Bike Depot’s first annual Harvest Bike Tour September 9-11!

With 10-15 other riders, I’m going to bike 35 miles to Martell’s Landing Education Center inSomerset, WI on Friday, September 9. The next day, we’re going to ride 8 miles each way to visitCommon Harvest Farm and spend the afternoon helping to harvest vegetables, can tomatoes for thewinter, and learn about the local and organic foods movement! Sunday we’ll be biking back to St.Paul, wrapping up 85 miles of riding over the long weekend.

I’m asking if you’ll support me in my effort to raise $200 for Sibley Bike Depot to engage low-income and under-served youth in learning bike maintenance skills and becoming communitytransportation leaders! Funds will specifically support:

  • Youth Apprentice Mechanics program – Sibley employs six youth in an educationalprogram building skills in bike mechanics, community engagement, and socialentrepreneurship through helping to run a community bike non-profit
  • Junior Mechanics Youth Build-a-Bike class – youth can sign up to take a free class, learnbike maintenance and repair while repairing a bicycle – with a lock and helmet – to keep atthe end of the program
  • Community engagement, curriculum improvement, partnership development, and outreachto youth-serving organization in the community and in the Promise Neighborhood

Your contribution helps us to strengthen our community, promote youth career achievement, and support a shift towards healthy, environmentally sustainable, and personally empoweringtransportation! Thanks for helping us to be one part of a broad-based, community-led solution!

This is a really cool idea and I'm so proud that you're a part of it. Makes me feel sort of guilty that I have a really nice bike I never use in the garage. I want to see your pictures of Wisconsin friend!
