This October Sister Parish supporters from across the United States, Guatemala and El Salvador will take part in the Solidarity Walk.

Rita and I will be traveling to Seattle to join the Sister Parish Board of Directors in doing the annual Solidarity Walk. This year's theme “Planting the Seeds of Peace” will remember the men and women who planted the seeds that enabled Sister Parish grow, celebrate the fruits that we’ve harvested from our U.S. / Central American linkages and reflect on what seeds of peace we would like to plant for the future.

The work of Sister Parish has never been more important to us. We traveled to Guatemala earlier this year and saw the impact of increasing violence due to narco-traffic and gangs (as drug cartels move their centers of operation out of Mexico).

Rita and I will be joining others around the U.S. marching at the same time, while walks are also underway in Guatemala and El Salvador.

The Solidarity Walk is Sister Parish's largest outreach and fundraising event of the year and the money that we raise in this event will enable our staff to continue promoting solidarity and friendship across borders.
