JADE FOUNDATION

The Jade Foundation makes grants to other small nonprofits in Minnesota that serve young people (birth-22 years) with disabilities or other difficult life circumstances. Over and over, we hear from organizations who get Jade Foundation grants about the HUGE positive difference the funds make in the lives of their young clients! Here are some highlights: -- Our first grants in late 1999 recognized the healing power of the arts for kids with special needs by funding a great variety of hands-on art education programs throughout Minnesota for VSArts of MN, and a music therapy program for Reuben Lindh Family Services. -- A grant to Northeast Residence Inc. in 2000 provided funding for respite care services for children with severe disabilities. -- Grants to therapeutic horseback riding organizations throughout Minnesota, between 2000 and 2003, allowed dozens more young people with various disabilities to experience the amazing healing potential of horse-assisted therapy. -- A grant to the Minnesota chapter of the National Association for Mental Illness funded special supportive programs for the siblings and parents of children with mental health issues. -- A grant to the Native American Community Clinic in 2003 provided funds for a new, effective, and kid-friendly vision screening machine. -- A grant to Adopt-a-Room in 2006 funded the creation of comforting, homelike suites for children and their families at Fairview University Children's Hospital. -- A grant to Roosevelt High School's scholarship fund in 2008 allowed FIVE young people with exceptional circumstances to attend college. -- A grant to Save Our Sons in 2009 provided mentoring and support to African American teen men. -- A grant to the Little Flyers Therapeutic Preschool Program in 2009 enabled more young children with emotional/behavioral disorders to improve their social and pre-academic skills, to the point where they will be ready for regular classrooms.
