INTERNATIONAL SPANISH LANGUAGE ACADEMY PARENT TEACHER ORGANIZATION

In just a few short years, the ISLA PTO has built a strong community spirit and done some amazing things in our quest to support our students' education at ISLA:

-- Our parents, grandparents and other caring adults put in over 600 volunteer hours per year helping in our classrooms, the lunchroom, and PTO events.

-- We've hosted several family nights focusing on topics like Project EARTH, health & wellness, and the popular Dia de Los Muertos celebration where we learn about the Mexican traditions of honoring their loved ones who have died.

-- The past three years, the PTO has brought four LA's to our school. These Teaching Assistants come from Spanish-speaking countries like Colombia and Spain, to gain teaching experience and to learn about our culture. They help our students learn about their home countries, and give them valuable exposure to native Spanish speakers.

-- We've planned some phenomenal fundraisers that are community-building and give our families time to socialize together, including last year's Fiesta de Primavera that raised a whopping $24,000!

-- In 2009, we were named the Parent Group of the Year for a Small School by PTO Today, a national organization for parent-teacher groups - what an honor!!

We are so fortunate to have such an active, caring, talented and committed group of parents, teachers and staff that make up our PTO. Working together, we are building a community and demonstrating to our kids how much we value their education and their school. We love ISLA!
