When the Isanti County Historical Society Heritage Center went up in flames, July 8, with it went 150 years of Isanti County history.

We are the only organization preserving the history of Isanti County and we have been dealt a devastating blow. We have lost most of our archives -- the photos, family histories, cemetery records, army uniforms, video memories, old newspapers and more.

“It’s just devastating,” ICHS Executive Director Kathy McCully said while watching the firefighters work on the building. “I’m in disbelief. It’s literally 150 years of archived collections, photos, archival donations … It’s all gone.”

    I am so sorry to hear of this loss. I have no history with Isanti, but I do have a history elsewhere and it is a devastating loss!

    ICHS is the kind of place that is working behind-the-scenes to make sure our history is preserved.

    This is a great, well run organization doing fabulous things in the community. It has trouble fundraising because many people ignore the value history plays in their lives. I'm grateful we have a local organization preserving our local history!
