Imagination Library is a book program promoting literacy for children ages birth to five in West Central Minnesota.
Imagination Library currently sends more than 2200 children whose parents live in West Central Minnesota one book every month in their name to their home. Introducing books at an early age is proven to increase their vocabulary, which leads to reading proficiency and school success. Imagination Library is a successful program with children across our region receiving books at their home. The program costs United Way $30 per child per year and we estimate that we can potentially register $1,000 more children within the year with funding. Imagination Library brings books into the homes of children promoting early learning and quality family time. By sending the books to the children in their name it creates excitement around reading. Children are begging their parents to read to them! Too often parents do not take the time to read a book in the evening or morning. This program is engaging children to ask for books to be ready by family members.
