Hostelling International USA Minnesota Council (HI-MN) is affiliated with Hostelling International-American Youth Hostels (HI-AYH), a self-sustaining membership organization founded in 1934. HI-AYH in turn belongs to the International Youth Hostel Federation (IYHF) a world-wide network of 4,000 hostels in 90 countries. Membership in HI-USA opens access to all HI hostels world-wide.
Hostelling International-Minnesota is a 55-year old non-profit council serving hostel members in Minnesota and the Upper Midwest. HI-Minnesota operates the Mississippi Headwaters Hostel in Itasca State Park as well as a council office in St. Paul, MN.
The Mississippi Headwaters Hostel in Itasca State Park, which is 4 hours north of the Twin Cities. We are proud to say that the hostel consistently scores in the top 10 hostels nation-wide in quality standards and hosts thousands of groups, families and individuals every year.
At our Headquarters in St. Paul we offer Travel Education Programs, Eurail passes, HI Memberships, Hostel Travel Guides, Destination Advice and Budget Travel Tips. We are also the Headquarters for the Annual Minnesota Ironman Bike Ride, which is our largest annual fundraiser, and the Tour De Pines Bike Ride, which is our newest bike event.
