Help me be a Hero for the Southeast Minnesota Chapter of the American Red Cross!

Dear Past and Present Parents, Grandparents, Current and Former Students, and My Friends,

Down the street, across the country, and around the world… when people need the Red Cross, they are there! Whether a house fire in Rochester, a military family with an emergency, a heart-attack victim who receives CPR or first aid, or people who learn to swim, people can always count on the Red Cross. But they can’t do it without our help.

As many of you know, all of my adult life, I have been a Red Cross swimming instructor (celebrating 60 years), so you know I believe very strongly in the importance of learning to swim and be safe around the water. I have also served the maximum time allowed of nine years on the local Board of Directors, so I know first-hand that we have a strong and efficient Red Cross providing great service in our community. How efficient, you ask? Very! Of every dollar donated, 91 cents goes toward services, while nine cents covers the cost of running the organization, one of the highest efficiency ratings in the country.

For the last eight years, I have been a “Hero” for our local chapter’s Heroes Campaign, which is an annual fundraiser involving individuals and groups from throughout the community who set a goal of raising at least $1,000 or more for the American Red Cross. I wish to thank everyone who was able to send a donation! I was thrilled with the participation and am very grateful!

I have decided to be a Hero again and to invite my “swimming families” and my friends to participate in my efforts. This year, I have set a personal goal to raise $10,000.

All donations will stay in the community and are tax-deductible. Did you know that more than 20,000 people were touched by the Red Cross in the Southeast Minnesota Chapter last year? This is an opportunity for you to help support the wonderful services that the Red Cross volunteers provide in our community.

I am hoping you might help me reach my goal by sending a check of any amount to the Red Cross at 310 14th Street SE, Rochester, 55904, writing “Heroes – Jan” in the memo space. If you prefer to make a donation over the phone with your credit card, you may call the Red Cross office at 507-287-2200.

Thank you in advance!

Warmly,

Jan Larson

P.S. The Red Cross is not a government agency; they depend entirely upon voluntary contributions to provide the vital services Americans depend on in times of crisis. Thank you for considering this request.
