Heartland Animal Rescue - Brainerd

H.A.R.T. is a non-profit 501 C(3) humane society serving Crow Wing, Aitkin and southern Cass Counties. The shelter also includes an impound-holding facility which serves Crow Wing County and nine area municipalities. H.A.R.T. takes in stray and unwanted animals, and personal pets when they can no longer be cared for. We give every animal the best possible chance at being adopted. We give shelter animals necessary medical care, temperament test all dogs, and spay and neuter animals whenever possible, prior to adoption. Animals not spayed or neutered prior to adoption, must be taken to a vet by the new owner to be altered.

H.A.R.T. is involved in educating and involving our area communities with volunteer opportunities. We offer educational presentations to area schools. In the summer, we employ youth with the CEP Program through the state of Minnesota. Many of our volunteers also visit nursing homes, care centers and state facilities with animals. H.A.R.T. also has an extensive volunteer program available to youth and adults.
