Emergency assistance: food/shelter/clothing. School/holiday assistance for families. Services for seniors and those with disabilities.
Children deserve to live a life free of hunger, with warm clothes to wear and a place to sleep safely at night. 50% of our emergency food shelf clients have skipped a meal in the past month because there wasn't enough money for food, and children make up 43% of the hungry who visit the food shelf.
Hastings Family Service operates a full service emergency food shelf, working with every client to identify the cause of the crisis, to offer potential solutions and services/resources available as well as assistance with basic needs of food, clothing and shelter. HFS strives to provide unduplicated services and to make it easy for our clients by providing the paperwork they might need or perhaps the transportation to get there to apply for other assistance. HFS puts the needs of children first and works hard to offer hope to all who seek our help.
The Clothes Closet & More is our hometown thrift store where clean and seasonal used clothes and household goods are available at no cost to families in need. All proceeds support HFS programs and services. HFS also provides emergency grants and supplies, and school and holiday assistance for families. The Meals on Wheels and Just Friends programs provide meals, chore services, transportation and friendly visits to seniors and people with disabilities. The majority of the work is accomplished with over 300 committed volunteers.
Your gift to Hastings Family Service provides nourishment, warmth, and perhaps most importantly, hope. Every dollar donated provides up to $9 in food, so your gifts are stretched to help as many people as possible. In this time of great economic and personal challenge, please consider helping Hastings Family Service respond to the human services needs of our communities in a proactive, comprehensive and efficient way.
