For 157 years, Hamline University has been making a difference in the lives of students by doing all the good it can by all the means it can

Every so often in the life of a university, a single year stands out as having changed the course of history. This promises to be one of those years.

As we do every year, we’re asking you to make a gift to our Annual Fund. However, this request comes with a more profound impact than ever before. Hamline has committed to increasing the amount of financial aid available, allowing the university to continue making a Hamline education possible to high-quality, deserving students. Your gift to the Annual Fund will support access to a Hamline education for those who might not be able to attend without financial assistance.

Did you know: 91% of undergraduate students and 52% of law students receive scholarships and grants from Hamline.

In this special year, we're asking you to support Hamline in a few specific ways. Consider designating your gift to one of the following priorities.

UNRESTRICTED

Unrestricted gifts are used to support the highest priorities of the university. They can be designated as unrestricted to the university or as unrestricted to a specific school or college at Hamline. Annual gifts have an impact on nearly every aspect of day-to-day life at Hamline, sustaining the quality of our academic programs, supporting our faculty, and ensuring adequate financial aid for all students.

OPPORTUNITY SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Hamline is pleased to announce the establishment of the Opportunity Scholarship Fund. As we continue to hear from students and families who have been challenged by current economic times, Hamline has reaffirmed its commitment to students by increasing the amount of financial aid available. One hundred percent of gifts designated to this portion of the Annual Fund will be used to provide annual scholarship support to current students.

ALUMNI WAY BRICK CAMPAIGN

A special recognition opportunity exists for this year only as we build our new Alumni Way on campus – which will serve as the main pathway to the new University Center and lined with beautiful historic brick pavers. Each donor who makes a qualifying* gift of $1,000 or more ($500 or more for alumni who graduated from 2001 to 2011) between July 1, 2011 and June 30, 2012 will have the opportunity to become a part of this lasting and visible addition to campus by having his or her name engraved on a brick. Alternately, donors may choose to honor or memorialize a loved one by having the loved one’s name engraved.

*To qualify, gifts must be allocated to one of five priority areas: unrestricted, Opportunity Scholarship Fund, named annual scholarship, the University Center campaign or an endowed fund. Please visit our website at www.hamline.edu/makeadifference for further details.

You can designate your gift to go to the school, department, team or purpose of your choosing.

Hamline University students thrive here because of the support of their professors, the other students, and the campus life. With your support, students will thrive here for generations to come.

All our goals are achievable with your support.

I received a great, truly liberal education at Hamline. I am pleased and proud that Hamline is embracing and even enhancing its social justice gospel philosophy when our nation as a whole is rejecting and even demonizing it (I live in rural Arkansas). Hamline must keep that light burning until the nation finally comes to its sense and embraces its Founders' vision.
