Grace Gauthier - Sing-a-thon February 19, 2012

The Sing-a-thon was began four years ago to help raise funds for the Choral Music Department of Saint Agnes School. The Saint Agnes Concert Chorale is one of the Twin Cities premiere High School Choirs, and like most arts programs, is in need of funds to help sustain and grow.

The Sing-a-thon is a 5-hour music filled event where each student gets the opportunity to perform a solo of their choice, or perform as a member of a duet or quartet. Students select a song in keeping with the theme of the Sing-a-thon, and work with a coach to learn how to sing on a microphone and learn performance techniques. Besides student performances, there are special guests who perform (including alumni); the Concert Chorale sings; performs music on kazoos; and students compete in musical games. It has been a fun and exciting event and students have raised over $15,000 to date. Money is raised by students securing pledges for each of the 5 hours they participate.

Funds raised by the Sing-a-thon help with the purchase of music, formal attire for performances, fund choir trips, purchase a new piano, hire professional musicians for concerts, provide scholarships for students in need, and much more.

By contributing to the annual Sing-a-thon fundraiser, you will be helping students in the music program, and you will help keep the Saint Agnes Music Department alive and growing!
