A project of COOK COUNTY HIGHER EDUCATION
Give the gift of education and support our scholarship fund.
When you give the gift of education, you make an immediate impact in someone’s life.
In 2011, eleven $250 scholarships (a total of $2,750) were awarded to students enrolled in distance learning degree programs. These students live and work in our community, and this modest scholarship award often makes a huge difference in their scholastic life.
Courtney Johnson, a 2011 scholarship recipient states, “Receiving the scholarship meant someone else cared that I succeed—it made me work all the harder. Thank you.” Courtney earned his RN degree this year from Hibbing Community College and is employed in our local health care community.
Another former scholarship recipient, Bryann Bochovich, states, “You guys at Higher ed are so amazing!! I love my job and could not have done it with out your support!!!” Bryann was one of three medical lab students (also via Hibbing Community College), which came about in response to a plea from the local hospital to help them find qualified personnel to fill positions that would be vacated in two to three years. The timing was perfect for everyone, and the hospital also gained by serving as the clinical location for the students. A win-win situation for everyone involved. Pictured here is Heather Kemp, who received a Wes Hedstrom Scholarship award in 2011, and is finishing up her education degree this year from Bemidji State University.
Consider making a scholarship gift this year in a family member’s name. Your gift is tax deductible, and has a lifetime impact! You can fund a full scholarship of $250, or make any contribution and just designate the award toward a scholarship. Your whole community benefits when you give the gift of education!
