Funds help FOSH continue improving Swede Hollow Park such things as adding native trees and plants to the park.

Friends of Swede Hollow (FOSH) is a non-profit organization proactive to Swede Hollow Park issues, watching over and caring for the park. FOSH has organized large cleanups, planting, history tours, Art in the Hollow: Art Fest, and many invasive plant removals. Another annual event is the “Watch the Glow of the Setting Sun on the Red Brick Brewery”.

FOSH members have a deep affection for this beautiful valley that was home for many immigrates coming to America from the 1860 to 1956. Then the City of Saint Paul moved the last 16 families out of the Hollow, because of the limited city services. And the fire department burned the buildings to the ground.

Other initiatives that FOSH has been instrumental in starting are the Bruce Vento Nature Sanctuary development and Regional Trail improvement to the south of Swede Hollow Park and to the north of Swede Hollow the Historic Hamm Brewery Neighborhood Initiative.
