FRIENDS IN NEED FOOD SHELF

At the Friends in Need food shelf, we work to help our community primarily by distributing food to the hungry but also through holiday programs and referrals to other agencies . We also have a small Emergency Fund which allows us to give one-time financial help for things like car repairs, prescriptions, glasses, rental assistance and bill assistance. The recipients of our assistance range from the homeless to middle class families that are in distress due to the economy.

The need is greater than every this year, as the Friends in Need food shelf will distribute over 1,200,000 pounds of food to over 24,000 people. We are able to provide approximately twice the amount of food to the hungry in our community than the state average through fiscally conservative spending, wise purchasing, and the generous donation of the building and utilities by Marathon Petroleum.
