Fresh Energy is among the top organizations moving energy policy. Our members recognize how effective we are, and so do 178 local experts. Philanthropedia, a national philanthropic research organization, recently released results based on a survey of local environmental experts to rate nonprofits in terms of their positive impact. Fresh Energy ranked 4th among 124 organizations.

Energy is among the most serious issues facing the world today. The deleterious effects of America's dependence on fossil fuels are seen in our foreign policy, our trade imbalance, our financing of both sides of the international jihadi movement, in the impacts of Gulf oil spills, our economic security, and the global environmental crisis of climate change. We can minimize, mitigate, and reverse all of these dangers with smart public policy.

    I have never known of a more effective organization than Fresh Energy, and believe that creating a fair, efficient, and clean energy system is one of the most important challenges of our time. Fresh energy is working hard to protect the climate for my new baby boy, and for all of us.

    The safety and health of our future generations depends on good climate policy being passed in Copenhagen and in the U.S. Not only for the air we all breathe and the water we all drink, but for the jobs our kids want to study and strive for. If we stick in a fossil fuel economy, we're essentially telling our kids and grandkids, "sorry, kid, you're on your own." That's why the work Fresh Energy does is so important.

    As a parent, I feel responsible for trying to leave a better world for my daughter. Fresh Energy, with its focus on energy policy and solutions, is definately a great investment in healthy communities, healthy economies and a better world.
