Freedom Farm offers therapeutic horseback riding for children & adults.
Freedom Farm enriches lives by partnering with the unique attributes of the horse to improve mobility, build confidence and encourage personal growth in children and adults with physical, mental & emotional challenges. Located south of Waverly, MN, Freedom Farm was established in December of 2000 by Susie Bjorklund. In the past 12 years, Freedom Farm has grown significantly. We now have over 60 riders participating in the therapeutic riding program, 11 therapy horses and 100 active volunteers. 'Healing with Horses', a program for women veterans, is in its 3rd year. 'Hope with Horses', a program for at-risk teens is in its 1st year.
In keeping with our mission, our goals are: • To provide a safe, supportive and respectful environment for rider and horse • To help children with all types of physical, mental and emotional challenges improve mobility and build confidence • To strengthen family relationships by encouraging family members to participate in riding sessions and/or other Freedom Farm-sponsored activities • To raise enough money to provide therapy at a low cost to participants so that access to the program is based on need and potential benefit, not on ability to pay. Our program seeks to contribute to the community by providing special needs children with a unique opportunity to improve their physical, mental and emotional capabilities through interaction with horses.
