FEP was founded in 2003 as a non-for profit organization. Based in M1inneapolis, a city with a vibrant tradition for support for the arts,

Our Mission

  1. To produce and promote unique and influential museum-quality exhibitions, and to circulate these exhibitions around the world.
  2. To produce exhibitions which cover the full range of photography’s rich history, drawing on its many movements and schools, its classical and avant garde tendencies, and its national and international aspects, through a varied program of solo, group and thematic exhibitions featuring both masters of photography and talented newcomers.
  3. To offer museums and other cultural institutions varied choices of exhibitions, from small-scale projects aimed at specialist publics to major exhibitions with mass appeal.
  4. To provide educational programs that will increase public awareness of the profound influence photography has on our lives, and help people to better control this influence.
  5. To produce catalogues and books to complement or extend our exhibition and educational programs.
  6. To bridge the gap between centers of photographic expertise on the five continents and encourage exchanges of information and expertise on many levels.

Programs

Minnesota Initiative

Minnesota Photographic Artist Initiative is a program offered by FEP. The program is dedicated to exhibiting and supporting photographic artists who live and work in the state of Minnesota. The goal of the program is to develop exhibitions, publications and educational programs featuring the work of the many talented Minnesotan photographers. FEP will make every effort to present these exhibitions in MN before traveling them both to the Midwest Region and elsewhere in North America. FEP is currently developing an active partnership with the Minnesota photographic community.

FEP is uniquely positioned to bring attention to MN artists due to our success on the national and international stage. Artists who participate in the Minnesota Photographic Artist Initiative will benefit from FEP’s excellent reputation for developing and managing first-rate photography exhibitions in North and South America, Europe, and Asia – indeed, across the globe. Exhibiting artists also benefit from access to FEP’s professional support services including curatorial expertise, exhibition planning, publication design, and installation at each. FEP is currently developing projects with noted Minnesota photographers Stuart Klipper, Christopher Faust, and Tom Arndt.

Our Minneapolis exhibitions and related programs provide a forum for engaging the audience in intellectually stimulating discussions about history, art, technology, and culture. The Minnesota Photographic Artist Initiative is an important means of enriching the local community through the art of photography.

The exhibition Revisiting Twain’s Mississippi: New Photographs by Chris Faust will be shown at 5 venues in Minnesota between December 2012 and October 2013. It will present 18 to 24 photographs by Chris Faust plus digital reproductions of historic cyanotypes of Henry Bosse.
