"Libraries are the heartbeat of most communities, but that's never more true than when discussing the libraries of special communities and subcultures. We all value preserving our LGBT past, but libraries help us create the future that we want by assisting research and becoming a central hub of the vital information exchange that takes place in our community. Our queer libraries are not just where we archive our past but position ourselves for a better future. Without libaries like the Quatrefoil Library, serving the information needs of the community--from newly out teens looking for evidence that 'it gets better' to seasoned political activists seeking advice and contact information--our march toward equality and acceptance might be halted altogether. I hope that my fellow lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender folk, queers, and our allies not only support our libraries, but take advantage of the rich resources that they contain.
