Empty Bowls is a community-wide event that helps ensure that fewer people in our community go home to an "empty bowl."

Empty Bowls is an international grassroots effort to fight hunger. The basic premise is simple: Potters and other craftspeople and educators work with the community to create handcrafted bowls. Guests are invited to a simple meal of soup and bread. In exchange for a cash donation, guest may select a bowl to keep as a reminder of all empty bowls in the world. The money raised is donated to PRISM and NEAR, two food shelfs serving the Robbinsdale Area Schools community.

The event is being held Thursday, March 15th, 2012 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Sandburg Learning Center (2400 Sandburg Lane in Golden Valley).

There are many ways to get involved:

  • making bowls
  • financial/in-kind support
  • event volunteers

There is such a HUGE need for food in our area right now - If you can't make the fun event on March 15th, you can always contribute here and now. Supporting Empty Bowls you will be supporting the food shelves that provide food for local families, kids who attend school with our kids, our neighbors who we see everyday but know don't they have a need. EMPTY BOWLS supports our local community, please contribute what you can. Thank you
