Dunwoody Academy is a charter high school located in north Minneapolis. It was envisioned in August 2006 by a group of dedicated community leaders who saw rewarding future career opportunities for high school students with appropriate technical education. This group sought to launch a new kind of charter high school, one with a strong emphasis in applied technical education that would lead to post-secondary education or entry-level employment.

The mission of Dunwoody Academy is to provide a rigorous industry-oriented education to the inner-city youth of Minneapolis and St. Paul, preparing them for admission to and successful degree completion at an accredited technical college or academic college or university.

The goal of Dunwoody Academy is to provide inner-city high school students with a small and focused learning environment that engages the diverse interests, learning styles, and aptitudes of its students. As a community partner, Dunwoody Academy is educating students who will help bring economic stability and vitality to north Minneapolis. Our students will graduate equipped to pursue further education and careers in technology.

Dunwoody Academy is the only stand-alone college-preparatory high school that promotes training in the following five technical majors: automotive technology, construction, health care, manufacturing technologies, and media arts. Our high school concentrates on building upon a rigorous academic foundation while focusing on technical training.
