About the Gala

On May 19th, 2012, COGGS is having the first annual Duluth Traverse Gala at Northland Country Club starting at 5PM. This event is a fundraiser for the Duluth Traverse Trail System. Tickets cost $75.00 per person.* The limit is 280 people. Registration closes on Tuesday, May15th at midnight.

  • *Note: Your tax deductible contribution will be less the cost of the meal. You will receive a receipt when you register at the event.

Schedule of Events:

  • 5-6 pm Silent auction* and happy hour with complimentary Deschutes Mirror Pond on tap
  • 6 pm Gourmet dinner of your choice and summer berry trifle for dessert
  • 7 pm Presentations on Duluth Traverse Trail from Adam Sundberg, COGGS President; Hansi Johnson, Regional IMBA Rep; & Mayor Don Ness
  • 8 pm Silent auction* and raffle** ends followed by live music and dancing with The Ander Peterson Jazz Quazitet

Entree Selection: You must choose your entree selecion when you register or you will automatically receive the pork selection. (See STEP TWO below.)

  • Slow Roasted Apple Pork Loin with Cider Gravy & Harvest Chutney
  • Sauteed Walleye topped with Pine Nuts and Herb Beurre Monte
  • Vegan Roasted Vegetables & Risotto

TWO STEPS TO REGISTER:

Step One: Purchase Tickets. On the right hand side, click on the desired ticket amount.

  • Use the "other" amount if you wish to give a donation greater than $75 for a ticket.
  • You may also send check or cash directly to COGGS at: PO BOX 161261 Duluth, MN 55816. Please specify dinner: pork, walleye, or vegan.

Step Two: Select Dinner. Click on "designate this donation for a specific cause" under the Designation field. Type in your dinner selection: pork, walleye, or vegan.

  • The Designation field appears after you click the DONATE button and is near the top of the page.
  • If you purchase more than 1 ticket indicate the amount of entrees for each selection.

The Cause

COGGS' long-term vision is to create a multi-use, singletrack trail that is purpose built for mountain biking and completely traverses the entire 26 mile long City of Duluth, named the Duluth Traverse Trail System.

Why should you support the cause? The Duluth Traverse Trail:

  • Will be the first 100+ mile system of singletrack within an urban environment.
  • Connect communities together via natural surface trails.
  • Provide trail access within a short distance of Duluth residents' homes.
  • Support physical activity for all ages and for all human-powered activities.
  • Promote tourism because Duluth will become a premier mountain biking destination in this country.

COGGS is seeking significant fundraising to make the Duluth Traverse come to fruition; overall cost is estimated close to $1.6 - 2 million. In 2011 the City of Duluth was awarded a $250,000 State Legacy grant for the Duluth Traverse project. COGGS will continue to seek State, Federal and private grants to help fund this project in addition to the Gala fundraiser and other events over the next several years.
