Mission

The mission of Damiano is "Building a Stronger Community, Serving People in Need."All services are available at no-cost, assuring help to homeless, unemployed and working poor individuals and families most in need.

Programs

SOUP KITCHEN - Open for twelve meals, five days a week. CLOTHING EXCHANGE - Provides free clothing and household goods to people in need. The only free clothing store in Duluth. DAMIANO SOCIAL SERVICES - crisis intervention and assisted information and referral.HOUSING ACCESS - works to prevent new occurrences of homelessness and provides education, advocacy and support to tenants and about housing issues. CLOTHES THAT WORK - Work appropriate attire for low-income people in search of employment or currently employed.KIDS CAFE - After school and summer time meal program for children ages 6 - 18. Free on-site meals with nutrition education and fun and enriching activities.

    Went to Damiano last week for clothing drop-off. Very impressed with the cleanliness of the building. Kuddos to the janitorial staff, everything looked very nice.

    Its easy to think of the poor as people who don't want to work but anyone who has volunteered at Damiano would know that many people who use its services are the working poor.

    God calls us to look after widows and orphans in their distress James 1:27, unfortunately in our society which keeps spiraling down we need to look after the children whose parents make bad choices in life causing consequences which are not good.
