We are fundraising to help defer the cost of replacing the carpeting in the main area of the library.
2010 marks the 10th Anniversary of the Grand Rapids Area Library move to it's new location on the banks of the Mississippi River. Over the past 10 years, the library has seen a steady increase in circulation and traffic volumes through it's doors and because of this, there has been great wear and tear on it's carpet. Some of the heavily worn areas have become tripping hazards for the library patrons. We also wish to keep our beautiful facility in top repair for future generations to enjoy.
The cost to replace the carpeting is quite expensive given the large area of carpet that is being replaced and there is an additional expense of having to move the book stacks. The replacement carpeting is manufactured to withstand the heavy traffic volumes the library experiences.
The Grand Rapids Area Library Foundation is setting out to raise $40,000 to offset some of the cost of replacing the carpet. Carpeting will be sold in square yard blocks for a total of 1600 square yards.
100% of the proceeds of this fundraiser goes directly towards the replacement of the carpet.
Please help us keep our library in tip-top repair and safe for future generations to enjoy! Donate today!
