In honor of Black History Month Youthprise is recognizing two organizations that are doing innovative work in the African American communities of the Twin Cities. We have selected the Cultural Wellness Center to be the recipient of a matching grant challenge – for every $1 raised Youthprise will match that gift with $1 for up to $2,000. That means that the money you donate to this important organization will be doubled when you donate to this page!

The Cultural Wellness Center is a community-initiated organization that mines and synthesizes experience-based knowledge to both explain problems and deliver solutions. The Cultural Wellness Center is in the business of positioning community knowledge at the forefront of community health and economic development ideas.

The work of the Cultural Wellness Center is about carrying out its mission “to unleash the power of citizens to heal themselves and to build community." To accomplish this mission the Cultural Wellness Center produces models to solve problems that have been created by individualism, loss of culture and loss of community - which our People's Theory of Sickness and Disease states ... "makes you sick."
