A house can be built by anyone. But a Habitat home is built with love and compassion. Help us build our next home in McLeod County!

Crow River Habitat for Humanity has built 20 homes in McLeod County to help families in need. Our work began in 1994 and continues today with our 21st home in Hutchinson. To date, we've built:

  • 12 homes in Hutchinson
  • 5 in Glencoe
  • 2 in Stewart
  • 1 in Brownton

Did you know that it takes $80,000-$100,000 to build a new home? And that's because the heavy lifting and construction are done by trained and committed volunteers. Through caring hearts and hands, we transform a bare lot into a home. But more importantly, we change lives...one family at a time.

A common misconception is that Habitat gives homes away. We don't. Our homes are sold to the selected family at a zero-percent interest loan, keeping mortgage payments at an affordable $600-$650 per month. Crow River Habitat acts as the bank and manages mortgage payments in a special building fund used for future homes. And, there's more! Partner families must invest 400 hours of "sweat equity" by helping build their own home, or the home for the next family.
