Conservation Corps Minnesota & Iowa
A US registered nonprofit

Maplewood, MN
Girl

Conservation Corps Minnesota & Iowa provides meaningful work for young people in conserving our natural resources. The training and skills corpsmembers receive benefit our communities.

The Corps not only provides training in natural resources, safety and technical skills, it helps young people develop personal responsibility, a strong work ethic and greater awareness of environmental stewardship. Satisfaction comes from knowing that you are making a difference.

Built on the tradition of the Civilian Conservation Corps of the 1930’s, The Corps leaves a legacy of conservation and service to future generations.

Programs

AmeriCorps young adult program is a year commitment with lifetime benefits. A 10-month, non-residential service program for young adults, ages 18-25. Crews are typically 4-5 members and complete conservation projects throughout the state of MN and IA as well as into other states. Crew members receive technical and personal-skills training and professional certifications. All crew members are enrolled in AmeriCorps and eligible for education awards of $4,725 to help pay college or qualified student loan expenses.

Summer Youth Program is an eight week residential and environmental-service experience for youth ages 15-18. Youth leave behind modern intrusions and live in the outdoors. Participants start at a base camp then work throughout the region, receiving free room and board while earning a living stipend. Youth from a variety of ethnic, socio-economic and geographic backgrounds team up and build community. Participants who are deaf , hard of hearing and hearing learn new ways to communicate while working together.

Youth Outdoors is an after school employment opportunity for St. Paul youth ages 15-18. Youth engage in environmental curriculum with a strong emphasis on science, math and technology. They lead volunteers and work outdoors on conservation and service learning projects in their neighborhoods.
