Conservation Corps Minnesota & Iowa

Mission

Conservation Corps Minnesota provides hands-on environmental stewardship and service-learning opportunities to youth and young adults while accomplishing priority and cost-effective conservation and natural resource management projects and emergency response work.

Programs

The Corps Summer Youth Residential program offers 4- and 8-week residential programs for high school youth. CCM uses an experiential learning model to teach youth (ages 15-18) work and life skills. Corpsmembers develop important social skills such as interpersonal communication, conflict resolution, team building, self-discipline, citizenship and personal confidence; as well as constructive workplace behaviors such as job safety, technical project skills, job search and interviewing techniques and working in a structured system.

The Corps Young Adult Program operates year-round by placing full-time crews of young adults (ages 18-25) throughout the state to perform both labor-intensive and highly technical natural resources work on public lands, including emergency response to natural disasters. Participants leave the program with work experience, personal confidence, and life direction that will carry them into the future.
