Connect families with gifts, resources, and hope for a brighter future

My passion at 360 Communities is Armful of Love. Shopping for families had meaning to Jeremy, Jessica, and Tonia, my three young children as they were growing up. Actually shopping for 1 boy and 2 girls, the same ages as my children was what this was all about.

Every year from the time they were 7, 5, and 3, we would “adopt” an Armful of Love family. My husband, Bill, and I would take our children, head off to the shopping center and shop for another family. Of course, some children wanted great toys. They also asked for things like a deck of playing cards or a warm blanket. This was quite an eye opener for my children. They thought everyone had a deck of playing cards. They actually were sad that a child requested a blanket as a Christmas gift. They wanted to get them the warm blanket but did not want it to count as one of the children’s gifts. There was the very valuable lesson of needs and wants, which we still hear about today. What an amazing day this was when our kids were picking out items that they would love but not for themselves.

Now that all three of my children are grown with families of their own, they are still giving. Sometimes they adopt a family to shop for or sometimes they bring in extra gift items. They have all gotten their place of business involved in this way as well. I went from donating clothes and toys to co-chairing this wonderful project.

This very rewarding experience has stayed with our family and continues to this day.

I am grateful to be able and willing to support 360 Communities mostly through time. Through my experience, I hope to see more people who receive help from 360 Communities that are able to turn around, and in the future, support 360 Communities themselves.
