MISSION: To strengthen communities by teaching and providing mediation and conflict resolution services.

Conflict Resolution Center (CRC), previously Neighborhood/Minneapolis Mediation Program, is part of a larger international movement that was influenced by community dispute resolution practices in West Africa (e.g. Liberian Palava Hut) and grew out the Civil Rights movement in the 1970’s.

CRC services are based on the core belief that individuals of all ages and backgrounds are capable of resolving their own disputes – effectively, inexpensively, and peacefully – with assistance from trained volunteer mediators. Through mediation, access to justice is open for all.

CRC’s community mediation program provides conflict resolution services in neighborhoods, in schools, between family members, landlords and tenants, and victims and offenders. In addition, we mediate business cases, facilitate conflict resolution sessions for larger groups – including non-profit boards of directors – and maintain a list of neutrals to staff other processes such as arbitrations and public housing hearings. CRC also provides volunteer mediators on a weekly basis in Hennepin County Housing, and Harassment Courts.

CRC is dedicated to providing dispute resolution services and training to all people, especially those who cannot afford traditional services offered through the courts. We focus on serving those for whom traditional services have not worked in the past because they did not address underlying issues or were not culturally appropriate. Mediation used earlier in the dispute process can prevent the need for further intervention on the part of city departments, the police, or courts - thus saving valuable resources and tax dollars.

Conflict Resolution Center was developed by the people and for the people, in a low-income neighborhood in Minneapolis. This member-run, community organization, relies on community resources to accomplish its mission. We need you! Thanks for your donation.
