The Clean-A-Thon will be held on April 24, 2010. Groups of volunteers are paired with seniors to clean homes for the Spring. Typical jobs the volunteers perform include: washing kitchen cabinets, walls, floors, vacuuming, cleaning out the refrigerator, defrosting the freezer, cleaning blinds, light fixtures, and raking leaves.

In 2008, 14 teams of volunteers cleaned 12 senior houses and raised more than $2,500 for Nokomis Healthy Seniors. The teams participate in friendly competition for the Bronze Broom, the Silver Dust Pan, and the coveted Golden Plunger. In addition volunteers also receive breakfast treats before and pizza afterwards.

This is truly a community event, bringing all generations together. The Clean-A-Thon is just one of the community events that allows seniors to remain in the homes and community they love.
