In the fall of 1969, a group of local volunteers established the Elk River United Fund. Their first campaign raised $10,000 and the funds were provided to 22 national and state wide organizations. The Elk River United Fun later became the Elk River United Way and in 1995 the name was changed to Caring Rivers United Way in order to incorporate all of the communities in the service area.

Caring Rivers United Way is working to advance the common good in the local area through three community impact areas:

* Community Basics Needs-assuring community members are able to access assistance to meet basic needs.

*Promoting Health & Wellness-assuring community members are able to access assistance to achieve their highest attainable level of well-being and independence.

*Nurturing Children and Families-assuring community members are able to access assistance to reduce risks and promote strengths of children, youth, and families.

ADVOCATE...You can make change happen with your voice. Get informed. Tell your friends. Write a letter to the editor. Call your representatives. Every community needs people who are passionate about local needs and concerns!

VOLUNTEER...Caring Rivers United Way in collaboration with Volunteer Bridge, works with volunteers and local nonprofits to develop the best volunteer opportunities for youth, adults, and seniors.
