Help me make Caring Bags for the Homeless and to show them someone cares about them. My goal is to make and distribute 1000 bags for 2011.
UPDATE: Thank You for helping me make 300 Caring Bags in time for Christmas 2010. For 2010 with the help of your support and a couple of 5th graders from Fair School Elementary we made and distributed over 800 bags, but the need goes on. The need for the Caring Bags has increased. The winter has been a difficult one for those who are homeless and the economy has hit them hard. Help me continue to reach those in need and to reach my goal to make and distribute 1,000 Caring Bags for 2011.
WITH YOUR HELP WE CAN REACH OUR GOAL.
While serving food at a shelter for the homeless I noticed a bucket of used soap that everyone was using to wash their hands and face with. That same bucket of soap was also used when they took showers. It made me think about all the trial size soaps and shampoos people collect from their hotel rooms while on vacation and how they just pile up or get thrown away. I thought if I could take trial size toiletries and put them in a gallon size ziploc bag, it would be small enough to carry and also provide them with their own personal items.
I made Caring Bags and delivered them to a local shelter and was soon brought to tears when a homeless man came up to me and said “Thank you, it means more than you know to have something of my own”. That touched me deeply.
"Caring Bags" give the homeless back a sense of dignity and pride and a sense of community, by letting them know someone cares about them.
Help me reach my goal of 1,000 Caring Bags for 2011. You can collect items, give a donation to purchase items or make your own Caring Bags and send them to Kids For A Better World (5130 65th Ave. N. Brooklyn Center, MN 55429).
