The Waconia Ice Arena is a great thing for the Waconia community. It brings customers to Waconia businesses, provides another recreational outlet for children and families in the area, and offers hometown ice for the youth in the Waconia Hockey Association. The WHA is committed to honoring its contract with the City of Waconia to pay its portion of debt for the arena. To do this, the WHA has some of the highest player fees in the state and must charge a premium amount for ice time. This high cost for participation is pricing some youth out of their chance to play hockey and join their friends on the ice for exercise, camaraderie and growth as individuals. Your help paying down the WHA's debt will enable the association to remain viable and keep hockey in Waconia for years to come.
