Arlington Street People's Assistance Network (A-SPAN)
Your Shirlington Connection fundraising for A-SPAN
Your donations will help A-SPAN continue providing life-sustaining services for Arlington's street homeless.
Your Shirlington Connection recognizes that there are people in need directly in our community. Please help us make a difference today. Here is A-SPAN's story:
In 1988, two women living in Arlington County began serving bagged meals to homeless people one night a week. This bagged meal program grew through the years to become Arlington Street People’s Assistance Network. Today, over 1,000 volunteers from faith groups, schools, businesses and the community serve meals everyday through the Homeless Bagged Meal Program and help staff the Emergency Winter Shelter. A-SPAN’s services include Street Outreach, Opportunity Place, the Permanent Supportive Housing Program, employment counseling and the Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-housing Program. A-SPAN provides life-sustaining services for Arlington’s street homeless. Our mission is to secure permanent housing for one of Arlington’s most vulnerable populations through outreach and relationships built on trust and respect.
