ANOKA-CHAMPLIN MEALS ON WHEELS

Anoka - Champlin (AC) Meals on Wheels began serving meals on February 1, 1973. We've made many changes since then, the number of clients we serve has grown and on July 1, 2008 we started serving an additional 360 square miles of greater Anoka County, MN.

We are a non-governmental organization with no regular government funding to help meet the cost of meals to our clients. The average gap between what our clients can afford and the actual cost of our daily delivered meal is over $4.00 . Without donations, we will not be able to serve all those in need.

Our mission is to serve those at nutritional risk, who cannot shop or cook for themselves, either long-term or in a temporary capacity. Our volunteers, over 400 of them, ensure that our clients are home and safe.

Home is an essential part of Meals on Wheels - the ability to maintain independence and age in place is key to our clients and the community in which we live. Nutrition is vital to staying healthy and our Meals, thanks to our partnership with Mercy Hospital, can be adapted to any diet needed.

We serve our neighbors and families - from Eva, who is 103 and due to vision problems cannot cook for herself, to Richard who before he started on our Meals weighed less than 100 pounds, to Isabella who lives in a converted Tornado shelter on the family homestead who now recieves a wellness-check and a hot meal.

It is only with your support that AC Meals on Wheels will be able to serve those in need of Meals on Wheels.
