Andrea Rovner's AAM Piggy Bank
Andrea Rovner fundraising for ACCOUNTABILITY MINNESOTA
Everyone should have access to quality tax preparation and that is what AAM is all about.
Two years ago, an email was sent out to US Bank employees regarding a volunteer opportunity with Accountability MN (AAM) preparing individual income tax returns for low-income people in our community. I was immediately drawn to the idea of helping others and what else is there to do in Minnesota from January to April?
After training, practice sessions and passing the IRS exam, I was on my way to helping prepare tax returns. Every Thursday night for the last two years, I have left work and headed to Hennepin Technical College in Brooklyn Park to meet up with some of the nicest people I have ever met and who are so grateful for the services that AAM provides. There was the young couple with had only recently moved to the United States from Senegal, the mentally disabled woman who asked no less than 100 questions in a 30 minute time span and the newly hired woman who would not be able to use our services next year if everything goes well. These people have given me so much more than I have given them and I am grateful too for the opportunity to volunteer for AAM.
As a volunteer for AAM, I am trying to bring in at least 10 new donors to the organization so that they may continue their mission of providing economic security to over 12,000 people. Please click the link below ot learn more about AAM.
