An Eruv enables people to carry on the Jewish Sabbath in a neighborhood. Donations support maintenance and future expansion.
After years of effort, an Eruv was established in parts of St.Louis Park and Minneapolis in 1990. An Eruv (Hebrew for mixture) brings a community together and makes it possible to carry between private and public domains on the Jewish Sabbath. Families can wheel children in their strollers or bring a bottle of wine to share with friends; individuals can carry medications or books that they will need during the day.
Our Eruv has helped to stabilize these neighborhoods. We are developing plans for an expansion that bring dozens of homes and a nursing home within the Eruv.
