ASD brings "H2Ope" by giving communities the skills to resolve their own water issues.

-- 1.2 billion people do not have access to freshwater

-- 3 to 5 million people die of water-related diseases each year

-- Women and girls often suffer the most because they must walk long distances to fetch water, so women can't work and girls can’t go to school

To address this global crisis, A Single Drop uses an innovative model to create community based water organizations that are empowered with the appropriate technologies, organizational skills, and business tools to resolve their own water issues using environmentally and financially sustainable practices.

We help communities assess, design, implement and maintain their own water solutions. In some regions, it is important for women to lead these efforts as they are the primary water carriers and caretakers of the family. Often water projects fail due to lack of technical expertise, accessible materials and community ownership. ASD trusts the wisdom of the community to know their needs best. We help them harness their existing resources and implement appropriate technologies and strategies that they can fully maintain.

This award-winning community empowerment program has been recognized internationally as one of the Best Social Entrepreneurial models by Schwab Foundation, Ernst and Young and Echoing Green Foundation. In less than 4 years, ASD has been able to provide over 125,000 people with clean water and improved sanitation in the Philippines and seven countries in Africa. I came to know Gemma Bulos and her work about 10 years ago through her song campaign for a world anthem "We Rise" and her work with children's groups. The inspiration I derived from witnessing this and coming to know the person she is has been profound, and I have followed her work as it has grown over time. To work with the waters of the world and to promote self-reliance, pride, self-empowerment of women through practical application of means to improve quality of life is such a high service, I have been proud to participate as a donor to A Single Drop. I have seen what can be accomplished when a single woman listens to the song within her, takes the courageous step to move into her dream while leaving everything else behind, and impact lives around the globe. I am inspired, proud, and have seen the impact on my own life as a result of this work. When we impact one life, we impact all. And this most uplifting truth is what Gemma makes evident to anyone she has touched
