Can you imagine entrepreneurs who have been living in poverty starting their own small business--to support themselves and their families? It's a hopeful picture, but first those entrepreneurs need training in order to learn business skills, write a business plan and secure a loan for their new business idea.
The approach that A Minnesota Without Poverty has developed is to create Micro-Enterprise partnerships with congregations, or other community groups, who will identify and support potential entrepreneurs in rural and/or immigrant communities, or communities of color in Minnesota. We are working with Neighborhood Development Center and Latino Economic Development Center to create this new model for microlending. Volunteers and entrepreneurs alike will receive intercultural training. For more information see www.mnwithoutpoverty.org under Resources.
