A Framework for Governing

Several progressive leaders asked Heartland Democracy to coordinate this project. We invited a number of our state's progressive groups to contribute their policy initiatives ripe for the governor. Heartland Democracy coordinated these initiatives in a coherent framework. We are looked for common themes and cross-cutting values. Heartland Democracy is providing thematic and values-based context to the initiatives to show what they have in common, lending coherence to this particular set of practical progressive visions. Next we will work with our allies to bring the Framework to legislators, the media, other groups, and the public. This project demonstrates the possibilities and benefits of progressive coordination. Perhaps most importantly, the Framework showcases the unity and wisdom of practical progressive thinking, grounded in common values.

Our collaborators include a 12-group coalition led by Envision Minnesota, the Minnesota Environmental Partnership, Ready 4 K, Growth and Justice, and TakeAction Minnesota. We included the findings of the final report of the Legislative Commission to End Poverty as well.
