Sponsor our riders in the Minnesota Ironman bicycle ride for HSI-Crisis Connection so that no one in crisis rides through life alone
A woman, Alice*, calls, describing herself as “old and afraid.” Almost all her close friends have died, and she herself has cancer and doesn’t expect to live much longer. She says she is desperately lonely and can’t bear burdening her children with her loneliness...she just wants to talk to someone.
David*, who is seriously mentally ill, calls. He is unable to work and lives alone. It’s Friday night, the drop-in center where he spends most of his time is closed for the weekend, and he is so lonely and scared at the prospect of getting through the weekend alone that he is “having suicidal thoughts.”
These are just some of the types of calls HSI-Crisis Connection receives daily. Volunteer counselors and staff are here 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide counseling and referral, and a little bit of caring in their time of need. Your sponsorship of riders in the Minnesota Ironman bicycle ride on Sunday, May 1, 2011, will help raise needed funds for recruitment of volunteer counselors, training, and other operational costs. Please consider the impact of your donations will have on those in crisis, so that no one will have to ride through life alone.
