BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS OF THE GREATER TWIN CITIES

• Big Brothers Big Sisters is the nation’s largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, providing meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”), ages 6 through 18.
• Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Twin Cities was founded in 1920 and is now the sixth largest agency in the country.
• High school seniors in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Twin Cities program have a 40% higher graduation rate than would be expected of a similar demographic group in Minnesota.
• There are 3200 active matches in the Twin Cities, and 700 children, mostly male, on our waiting list.
• Every match receives individual, consistent attention. Your gift helps support:
  • Background checks of potential Bigs
  • Interviews of potential Bigs, Littles and Little’s parents or guardians
  • Matching Bigs and Littles with similar interests and geographic locations
  • Orientation and Training Sessions for Bigs
  • Monthly follow-up interviews of all matches less than a year old
  • Quarterly interviews of all matches over a year old
  • Closing matches that are not working
  • Creating events for matches and communicating available match activities
  • Supervision of school and work based programs
  • Staff training in child protection and best mentoring practices
